MNEMOSINE human digital heritage

We are all hearing increasing debates concerned with internet, management of personal data, and democracy. Such debates are raising at the precise moment when the « cloud » is emerging as a major source of social innovation. 

Territorial, regional, national, international organizations will develop a raising number of services dedicated to individuals, using personal data. It takes sense to deliver such services through a "cloud computing" architecture, for financial reasons (to lower the cost of IT infra-structure and maintenance services), but also for technical reasons (to use a secure and perennial access to personal data, through standardized tools).

However, it may be delicate for such organization to delocalize their IT infrastructure, using the cloud computing services of companies like the one of SUN, Google, Microsoft, Rackspace, Amazon, etc...

However, would such cloud computing facilities be under the responsability of their citizens, then it could legitimate the use of these services by these organizations.

Structurally speaking, the Mnemosine project proposes a framework that allows a democratical management of these ressources. Technically speaking, this project targets a data hosting / cloud computing offer. Within such a construction, organizations can develop their services to individuals, accessing personal data through a secured "API".
